Work or school account vs Personal account
This article is to explain the difference between a Work or school account and a Personal account in Microsoft, specifically in OneDrive.
If you ever log in on a Microsoft website and see this message:
This article is for you.
The number one thing to remember is to always use the Work or school account. This is the account that we created for you.
Personal accounts could be created before Educatius Group was in Microsoft. These were used for primarily Skype. However, they also had 5 GB of storage for files. These files are not secured by our system and should be deleted or moved to your work OneDrive.
To check if you have personal files:
1. Go to https://onedrive.live.com.
2. Sign in with the personal account. You can reset the password if needed.
3. The URL at top will remain https://onedrive.live.com with a string of letters and numbers following that is unique to you. It should look something like this:
4. Make sure to download or delete any files.
5. You can then sign in to your work OneDrive and upload the files, if there were any.
