Changing Your Local Account Password

Open Settings
- Press Win + I on your keyboard, or
- Click Start → Settings.
Go to Accounts
- In the left panel, select Accounts.
- On the right, click Sign-in options.
Find the Password option
- Under the Ways to sign in section, locate Password (for local account sign-in).
- Click the Arrow ( > ) or Expand button.
Change Password
- Click Change.
- Enter your current password.
- Type your new password, confirm it, and add a password hint (optional but recommended).
- Click Next, then Finish.
Restart or Lock Your PC
- Press Ctrl + Alt + Delete → Lock or restart your computer.
- Sign in with your new password to confirm it works.

Note: This applies only to local accounts (not Microsoft accounts). If you sign in with your Microsoft account, you’ll need to change your password at the Microsoft account security page.
